Rather Be Alive

The astute reader will have noticed that from time to time I post lyrics and/or a video to a hardcore song on the blog.  Whether it’s nostalgia, or I just want to rock, I’m not sure.  Anyway, this time there is a story to go along with it.

This band (Refused) was, by hardcore punk standards, a big deal.  They were touring the east coast when they decided enough was enough and it was time break up.

A friend of mine (Fred Z) who was on the same junior team as me some years previously coerced them into playing one final show.  In his basement.

This was the last song they played and they didn’t get to finish as the cops pulled the plug (quite literally).

I don’t know what’s up with the snails (or the dancing), but the song still moves me, so click through if you are so inclined.

  1. “Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent.” That was a good album.

And don’t make fun of their dancing: I’ve seen YOU dance the same way.

  2. Whoa…is that the Bri and Ry I think it is? That show was awesome…its on their DVD that came out a couple years ago…for more funfacts on the show, the Refused Wiki has tons of sweet tidbits.
